Welcome to Ekurhuleni Surgiklin
Admission in advance
In preparation for the procedure you will undergo at our facility, it is recommended and in your own best interest that you do your admission in advance. This will ensure that all your paperwork is completed and it will not have to be done on the day you are hospitalised.
For a smooth admission process, please ensure that you have the following:
- Procedure and diagnostic code (received from your doctor)
- Hospital practice number which is 0637459
- Medical aid authorisation number (Patients must contact their medical aid for this)
- Copy of patient′s ID or birth certificate
- Copy of ID of the main member
- Copy of medical aid card (both sides)
Once you have obtained your authorisation number, complete the admission form and please hand in 3 days prior to admission at your doctor′s consulting room or Surgiklin Day Clinic or email to admissions@surgiklin.co.za. Remember if you haven′t received an authorisation number from your medical aid, we will only be able to admit you as a private patient with the applicable deposit to be paid at admissions. Please also be aware that an authorisation is not a guarantee of payment and you will remain responsible for the account.
Once all documentation has been handed in, our staff will ensure that your admission documentation is processed.
On the day the day of hospitalisation:
Please don′t wear jewellery or bring any articles of value. Rather leave these at home. Unfortunately Surgiklin cannot be held responsible should any of your belongings go missing.
Patients are advised to bring their own reading material as there may be a waiting period.
It is not necessary to bring sleepwear as you will be given a theatre gown to wear. Wear comfortable clothing to leave the clinic in.
All wards are equipped with a television set at each bed with access to MNet and the public broadcasting channels (SABC). Headphones for patient′s use will be on sale but patients are welcome to bring their own.
After the operation
After the procedure you will be served a muffin and tea or coffee. Certain other snacks may also be served depending on the operation the patient has undergone.
Please inform the ward sister in advance should you have any dietary requirements.
It is likely that your doctor will prescribe medication for you to use at home after you leave the hospital. Please ensure that you have received your prescription when you are discharged. All medication will be available from your local pharmacy.
In case of any emergency, please phone your treating physician.
In keeping with national legislation, no smoking is permitted anywhere in the hospital.
Parking
Secure parking under 24 hour surveillance is available on the premises. In order to be allowed into the parking area you must show the parking disc which you will receive from your doctor′s consulting rooms. Please hand this disc back to the receptionist before leaving the premises. Parking is at own risk and although we do have full time security, we are not liable for theft or damage of any nature.
Accounts
Some medical aids require patients to pay a co-payment. This can be done at the clinic on the day of admission.
Medical Aid patients
Surgiklin will submit your account to your medical aid on your behalf. If there is any short payment, this will be communicated to the patient. Should you not receive notification of payment within 30 days, it remains your responsibility to follow up the outstanding payment with your medical aid.
Private patients
A cost estimation can be obtained in advance from Surgiklin Day Clinic. All costs must please be settled on the day of admission.
